The Centre for Renewable Energy (CoRE) at Indian Institute of Technology Palakkad is an interdisciplinary research and innovation centre dedicated to advancing sustainable and clean energy technologies. Energy is likely to be considered as the future currency. Various geopolitical issues and India’s large dependence of fossil energy resources from other countries make it mandatory to work in the area of renewable energy, by all available methods such as solar, wind, green hydrogen, biomass, energy management. It is also important to keep sustainability as the central theme. IIT Palakkad has been working on the renewable energy aspects across the departments from its inception on 2015. However, all such activities are to be brought under one roof and the current center on Center of Renewable Energy is formed to give more impetus for the ongoing work as well as to start relevant activities.
